More Wins at APT Legal for our Clients

This week at APT Legal

Each week, Carrie and the team share their wins about what has been happening across the team and so that we can share it on the website. It is a simple habit, but it is a good way to stop, look back and recognise the progress being made for our clients.

Here is what last week looked like:

Carrie’s Week

Carrie has had one of those weeks where the technical work really matters.

She made some new professional connections to support bits of legal work that we do not offer in house. That means when a client needs something outside our scope, we are not shrugging our shoulders. We can point them in the right direction.

She also managed to get a particularly complicated Inheritance Tax application submitted to HMRC. Anyone who has dealt with IHT paperwork knows it is not a quick or simple job when an estate is complex.

On top of that, Probate came through quicker than expected on one matter. That allowed the Executors to move forward with a property sale sooner than they thought they would be able to. In estates involving property, that kind of timing can really help.

Deb’s Week

Deb’s update was a mix of learning and looking after people properly.

After some training with Carrie, she said something that stuck. Complex Probate should be left to the experts. Knowing where the line is, and when to bring in the right level of expertise, is part of protecting clients.

She also had a joint meeting with a Financial Adviser to support a widow who felt completely lost after her husband died. Those meetings are rarely just about forms and processes. They are about giving someone space to understand what happens next.

In another situation, a potential client clearly needed counselling more urgently than legal advice. Deb arranged that through one of her hypnotherapy contacts. The client is now getting support and knows Deb is there when she is ready. Sometimes the right step is not a legal one.

Lisa and Lindsey Behind the Scenes

While Carrie and Meg have been bringing in new instructions, Lisa has been right in the thick of it. Confirming appointments, pushing paperwork through and getting invoices up to date. It has been busy, but everything is moving.

Lindsey has drafted a stack of new client documents this month and helped Carrie on several Probate files. She also made a point of getting fully up to date for month end and clearing her tray so she can follow up with people who have enquired but not yet booked in. Those follow ups matter more than people think.

Meg’s Week

Meg’s update was full of momentum.

She is starting to receive referrals from a Financial Adviser she met just before Christmas. It is a good reminder that networking does not always bring instant results, but it does build over time.

She also had an exciting conversation with the largest deaf charity in the country about making Will writing more accessible to the deaf community. If that develops, it could open the door for more inclusive estate planning support, which is something we care about.

And then there was a moment that probably sums up the week best. Two clients told Meg that the hour she spent with them signing their Wills had lifted their spirits for the rest of the week. That is not about paperwork. That is about reassurance.

When you step back and look at it, this week feels very APT Legal.
