There’s been a very special celebration in the APT family. Our very own Deb has
officially tied the knot!

A huge congratulations to Deb and her new husband as they begin this exciting new
chapter together. We hope the big day was everything they wished for, filled with
plenty of love, laughter, happy memories and, of course, a glass or two of something
bubbly!

Now that the celebrations are over and the confetti has settled, there is one slightly
less glamorous item of newlywed life admin worth remembering: updating your Will.
Getting married is a major life event, and it’s an important time to review your Will
and estate planning. In England and Wales, marriage will generally revoke an
existing Will unless it was specifically made in contemplation of that marriage. This
means that a Will written before the wedding may no longer reflect, or legally carry
out, your wishes.

Reviewing your Will after marriage gives you the opportunity to make sure your new
spouse and other loved ones are provided for in the way you intend. It’s also a good
time to check your choice of executors, beneficiaries and any other wishes you’ve
previously put in place.

Deb’s wonderful news is therefore a timely reminder for us all: whenever there’s a
big change in life; whether that’s a marriage, a new addition to the family or another
important milestone, it’s worth making sure your Will keeps up.
